Stephan Spicher

Biography

Stephan Spicher (born 1950 in Basel) is a Swiss painter with an international network and fields of work in Switzerland, Russia, Indonesia and Japan. His studios are in Oberwil near Basel and in Maggia, Ticino.  Spicher’s work revolves around the fundamental questions of vision and perception and their artistic implementation in painting and drawing. His oeuvre is therefore determined by continuity in change and marked by the fundamental importance of the “concept of life”, with which he explores the forces or energies standing behind all life and thus behind all pictures, setting them in motion and then transforming them continuously.
